Foster was true to his faith his entire life, serving the Lord in multiple ways, including becoming one of the founding members of the Anderson Mill Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, in 1973. Foster opened his home to church services, spending hours each week to ensure the new congregation could worship, sing, and fellowship together. Foster helped design and build the first AMBC sanctuary to meet the neighborhoods’ thirst for Christ. Foster actively participated in church services and church growth for over 40 years, working with fellow church members to build a larger church sanctuary, a two-story education center, teaching Sunday School, and serving as a Deacon.
Foster was an enthusiastic Aggie, having graduated from Texas A&M in 1953 with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and from Purdue University in 1955 with an MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Foster moved from Dallas, Texas, to Austin, Texas in 1973 to build the Austin, Texas Instruments’ Printed Wiring Board shop. Texas Instruments elected Foster as a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Texas Instruments Inc. in 1996, culminating a career spanning 41 years with eight patents, 27 technical publications, and four published papers.
