Edward G. Garza passed away on September 5, 2024, age 66, quietly at home with his wife by his side. Eddie was born on May 7,1958 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph and Delia Garza. He and his family moved to Austin in 1963. He attended St. Louis Catholic School and was an altar boy at church. Eddie was also in the Burnet Jr. High band and played trombone. He graduated from Lanier High School.
Eddie worked for IBM, Motorola, Harte-Hanks, LSG Sky Chefs, RSI and was also a hair model.
Eddie met his wife Jackie in 1981, while they both worked at Motorola and married on June 7, 1986. They have 3 daughters, Lindsey Michelle Fowler, Alyssia Renee Castillo and Shannon Nicole Maresh.
Eddie was a quiet soul with a free spirit, who loved watching the sun set or the stars in the night sky, while listening to music. He loved his family fiercely; his parents and brothers, his wife, daughters, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and all of his very large extended family, as well as all of his pets.
Eddie loved to barbecue and cook for his family, always looking for new recipes and loved trying new restaurants. Eddie also liked to talk about politics and sports. He played baseball and was on the Baby Longhorns football team when he was young. He loved watching all sports, but football was his favorite. He was a humble man with a big, beautiful smile and loved to laugh with his friends and family, especially his cousins, daughters and his grandchildren. Eddie would help anyone who needed it. But most of all, he loved being a father and a grandfather or Pops as the grandchildren called him.
Eddie is preceded in death by his father, Joe Garza and his older brother, Joe Garza Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Delia Garza and brother, Rudy Garza (Lisa); his wife, Jackie Garza; his children, Lindsey Fowler, Alyssia Castillo (Joe), and Shannon Maresh (Blake); his grandchildren: Liam Fowler, Gracelyn Castillo, Joshua Castillo, Sydney Castillo, Sophia Castillo; his nieces and nephews, and many others who loved him.
We would like to thank everyone at JOL and Bridges Home Healthcare for their loving care of Eddie.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Eddie.
