Dorothy “Dottie” Milligan, was born August 22, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She married her beloved husband, William “Bill” Gallagher, on September 21, 1957 in New Jersey where they eventually welcomed their children, Gregg and John Gallagher into the world. In 1972, Dottie and her family moved to Austin, Texas. Dottie began working as an Accounting Clerk for the Texas National Guard at Camp Mabry where she devoted 22 years before retiring. Dottie and Bill enjoyed traveling on cruises and raising their family. Dottie was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Pflugerville, Texas, and generously volunteered her time at Holy Cross Hospital. Of all her accomplishments, her favorite was being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Milligan of New Jersey, her husband of 50 years, Bill Gallagher, her son, Gregg Gallagher of Texas, brothers, George Milligan, Jack Milligan and Bill Milligan, sister, Barbara Irving, and several nieces and nephews.
Dottie is survived by her son, John Gallagher (Deborah May); grandson, George Gallagher; daughter in law, Cindy Gallagher; granddaughter, Amy Gallagher; grandson Joe Gallagher (Amy Bernier); great-grandchildren, Maggie Gallagher, Billy Gallagher, Nikki Marin; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., on Friday, November 10, 2023 in the Walden Room of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, with the interment to immediately follow the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
