Carol Ann Scott was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and cousin. She went to be with the Lord, and so joined her devoted parents, Eugene and Bernice Eilers, on May 14th at the age of 72.
She was born in La Grange, Texas on July 14, 1951. Shortly after her birth, her parents moved to Austin, Texas where they raised Carol Ann, along with her two younger sisters, Ruby Jean and Linda Kay. Carol had one child, her son James. He was the light of her life and she loved him dearly. She raised James in Austin surrounded by family. Later, Carol was blessed with three grandchildren whom she absolutely adored and was very proud. She most loved when she was able to spend time with her son and grandchildren, even beamed with joy just talking with others about them. Carol spent the majority of her days in the care of her loving parents in Austin, or at their ranch in Mills County, Texas.
Carol was sweet, silly, loving and funny. She liked to tease her loved ones much like her dad did. She loved to laugh, and she was good at it. She was brave and strong too. If you had a difficult jar to open, boy, you knew Carol could take care of it for you! She could also handle a bucket of feed or corn with no problem. She'd often carry a bucket of cubes straight into a herd of cows and bulls without blinking an eye, and even shoo them away when needed. Carol loved being in the country, as a child visiting her grandparents, and as an adult. Some of her favorite things to do out there were caring for the animals, including feeding her "sheepies" and the cattle, going on walks in the pasture, taking sunset drives with her mom to look for wildlife, and fishing at the tank.
She also enjoyed spending time with all of her loved ones. She had a special connection, favorite thing to do, saying, or inside joke with each of them. She would perk up when she would get a visit or a phone call. Carol would genuinely want to know how you were doing. She would be happy for you when things were good, and she would be sad with you if things were hard. Carol would also openly share with you about how she was doing and what she was up to. Taking the time to listen to her made her feel loved and appreciated. Carol especially loved being with her sisters who would spoil her with gifts and outings. Some of her favorite things were Elvis, flamingos and penguins, coloring and giving giving the pictures she colored to others, stuffed animals of all sorts, having her nails painted, flowers, the color pink, good food, chocolate desserts (German chocolate cake was her favorite!), shopping, going to the movies, watching westerns or Animal Planet, and going out to eat, especially, Catfish Parlor, Luby's, and Rudy's. Carol loved animals too, and she was usually the one to care for the family Boston Terrier dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Bernice Eilers. She is survived by her son, James Scott and his wife Joy; her grandchildren, Katherine, Daniel, and Zachary Sullivan-Scott; her sisters, Ruby Jean Eilers and Linda Kay Freeman; nieces, Christine O'Connor [Neale O'Connor] and Julie Brooks [Michael Brooks]; nephews, Josh Stutsman and Quinton Freeman; and four great nieces and nephews.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family. We'll miss her smile, her laugh, and her, simply for who she was.
God's grace and peace be upon you, Carol. We love you.
A visitation for Carol will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
