Carlos was born on March 22, 1937 in El Salvador to the late Benjamín L. Valdez and María (Alas) Valdez. He was a graduate from the Instituto General Francisco Menéndez and received a Bachelor’s degree in Languages from the Universidad Nacional de El Salvador. Carlos had a career in pharmaceuticals and medical supply distribution for well-known pharmaceutical companies and as founder and owner of Droguería y Representaciones Internacionales, S.A. de C.V. (DRISA). He was a member of the amateur soccer Club Atlético Peñarol. Carlos was a caring, loving and truly devoted husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend to many. He will be forever remembered for his passion for reading, technology, languages, history, ice cream and apple pie, but most importantly his courageous heart, warm smile and the time he spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He married Ilsa Estela Chavez on June 2, 1960.
In addition to his wife Ilsa of 59 years, he is survived by his children, daughter Ilsa; son, Carlos and wife Victoria; daughter Ivania and husband Paul; and daughter Carmen and husband Michael; grandchildren, Luis, Carlos, and Daniel Valdez-Jiménez; Carlos, Eduardo, and Luis Aguilar-Valdez; Catherine and Eva DePue-Valdez; and many extended family members and close friends.
Carlos is preceded in death by his brothers Jorge, Manuel, Benjamín, Antonio, Raúl, Jesús, Mauricio, and sister Teresa.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Following the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., there will be a reception in the same location.
