Aunt Tootsie’s ancestors were one of the first three hundred that Stephen F. Austin brought in to settle Texas. She was a proud member if the DRT (Daughters of the Republic of Texas).
Her parents Faye and Mace Bell produced nine children of which eight lived to maturity. They all had amazing lives themselves. I don’t think God ever produced a finer bunch or more special group of folks.
I am making this brief because friends and family already know what Aunt Tootsie was all about. Faith and family meant everything to her unconditionally. She never knew a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Steve Simmons, parents; Mace and Faye Bell; brothers, A.R. (Buddy) Bell, Sonny (Mace) Bell and Les Bell; sisters, Clara Mae Lansford, Dona Heath and Bessie Lee White.
Aunt Tootsie is survived by one sister, Kathleen LaGrone Floyd, one son, Steve Simmons; two grandchildren, Stephanie Faure and Rebecca Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Tristam Burch, Kaila Burch and Chloe Faure.
The family wants to send out a special thanks to Hospice of Austin and Christopher House, especially Katie Holtz and Peggy Stoll, and a very special thanks to a caring and loving neighbor Jan Brownell.
Visitation will be from nine o’clock until ten o’clock in the morning on Monday 8th of June 2015, followed by a Funeral Service in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.
