Angelina (Kelly) de la Cerda Russell, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, in Pflugerville, Texas. She was 89 years old and was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments.
Born on March 9, 1935, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Casimiro and Maria Luz de la Cerda, Angelina grew up with a strong sense of family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Margarita Peña.
Angelina dedicated herself to a career of service in Del Rio, TX, with Val Verde County, where she worked for 28 years before retiring in 1992. Her time there was marked not only by hard work but also by the many enduring friendships she formed along the way—relationships that brought joy and connection long after her retirement.
Angelina found profound happiness in her personal life. She shared a loving marriage with her husband of 41 years, Robert T. Russell (Bob), who survived her. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion.
Angelina’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her children: Cesar Espinoza (Tammy), Norma Ramirez (Armando), Edna Maury (Jimmy), Melinda Harris (David), Joe Russell (Priscilla), Deborah Russell, and Bobby Russell.
Grandchildren: Cesar Espinoza Jr., Vanessa Ramirez Garcia (Henry), Marcos Barragan, Jenny Kinney (Josh), Destiny Taylor, Jamie Maury, Seth Russell, and Noah Russell; and greatgrandchildren: Sophia Benavidez, Mia Benavidez, Michael Benavidez; Marissa Barragan, Cambree Barragan; Ella Kinney, and Austin Kinney.
Her legacy lives on through her remarkable children and grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Guillermo de la Cerda and sister Eva Luz Bernard. Angelina’s love for family extended far beyond words—she created countless treasured memories that will be held close by all who knew and loved her.
Angelina will be remembered for the love and kindness she extended to everyone she met. May the memory of Angelina de la Cerda Russell bring comfort to all who mourn this tremendous loss while celebrating the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
A Visitation for Angelina will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
A Rosary will occur Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
A Funeral service will occur Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 1520 N Railroad Ave, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
A committal service will occur Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
Angelina will be laid to rest in Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery & Mausoleum, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660; Section: Hall of Memories, Tier: F, Crypt: 4B.
