Alton Waymon Stockton, formerly of Austin, Texas, died peacefully April 18, 2012 at the Bertram Nursing Home. He was born in Hallettsville, Texas on July 9, 1921 to Lou and Mamie Stockton. He was one of eight children.
Alton was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He married Julia on August 24, 1946 and celebrated 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his sister, Florence Ellis of Houston, Texas and three children: Judy Hardin and husband, James, of Bertram; Bobbie Alexander and husband, Dennis, of Mountain City; and Alton (Bubba) R. Stockton and wife, Clare, of Bedford, Texas. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Chad (Debbie) and Clint (Trudy) Collier, Amy (Brett) Kelley, Brad (Stephanie) Alexander, Niki (Bryan) Weston, and Kristin (Chance) Ellis and 11 great–grandchildren.
Alton owned a dairy farm in Sprinkle, Texas for 16 years. He then worked for Austin American Statesman until early retirement at 55. He and Julia had many interests especially their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing and shrimping at Palacios, horseracing, and trips to Louisiana.
During his life, he was an active member of the Manor Lions Club and Parsons Masonic Lodge 222.

There will be a family visitation on Saturday, April 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Cook-Walden/ Memorial Hill Cemetery at 2:30 Sunday, April 22, 2012.
