Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s at Fleming on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Barbara Jean (nee Fulford) for 63 years. Son of the late Arthur and Gladys Carpenter. Dear father of Judy Burns (Donald), Ellen Snell (Brian), Laura Halkai and Neil Carpenter (Brigitte). Lovingly remembered by his 10 grandchildren; Bret (Jayne), Sean (Cori) and Luke Taylor; Sarah (Scott) Britnell, Bekah (Mark) Crozier, Rachel (Mike) Everett; Ryan and Evan Halkai and Reid and Mark Carpenter; step-grandfather to Jeremy Burns. Great-grandfather of Abbey and Chase Taylor, Bailey, Ella and Chloe Taylor, Hannah and Megan Britnell, William and Samuel Crozier and Madelyn and Nixon Everett. Brother of Dorothy Palmer (the late Bud) of Peterborough. Ralph graduated from Gr. 13 at the young age of 16 and worked for 17 years at Canada Packers and 27 years at Milltronics from which he retired as head accountant. He was a devoted family man, a lover of music, sports and gardening. He was a longtime member of the YMCA and St. Luke’s Church in Peterborough. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff of St. Joseph's at Fleming for the care and compassion given Dad in the past few months. Special thanks also goes out to longtime family friend Jack Adams for his continued love and support. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:30 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street.
