Peacefully passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the age of 95. Lou was born in 1927 in Culver, Indiana. He was the first African American to receive a degree in Forestry from Purdue University; and Lou went on to teach at Tuskegee University at the age of 22. In his later years, he taught Computer Technology at Sir Sanford Fleming College. He also owned his own computer store in Coboconk. Predeceased by his brother Colonel Wesley Simmons, Lou is sadly missed by many relatives and friends.
A memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at S. Patrick's Church, 4026 Kawartha Lakes County Rd 121, Kinmount, Ontario.
