It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Maxwell Kaye. He died peacefully, with his daughters, sister, and Trish by his side, after a well-fought battle with cancer and COPD, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, just 8 days shy of his 80th year. Ken’s memories, experiences, and stories will live on through his family and friends.
Ken was a dedicated and well respected Funeral Director at Kaye Funeral Home for almost 40 years. Ken was the son of the late Max Kaye and Edith Kaye. Ken’s presence will be deeply missed by his daughters, Deborah (Chris) and Kathy (Shawn). Beloved wife, Trish Burry, will feel his loss whole-heartedly. Ken is the dear brother of the late Ron Kaye (late Karen) and younger sister, Barbara Bowen. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Riley, Madilynn, Ryerson, Max, Emmah, and Katy. He will be sadly missed by his nephews, Greg, Kris, and Matt. Ken had a diverse and plentiful circle of friends who will now honour his legacy by sharing his stories with fond memories of their dear friend.
Ken Kaye was a man rich in experiences who enjoyed “living” life to its fullest and being with friends and family. He had a big personality and a sense of humour that could light up any room; he could turn any event into a story that connected everyone and made them laugh together. Ken was so very proud when sharing his stories about the people he met in his 30 years of attending the World Series and his 20+ years of wintering in Aruba where he became an “Ambassador,” which is a testament to his charisma.
Ken spent his life collecting, not only captivating stories and jokes to tell, but also, coins, comic books, and most recently, baseball and hockey cards. These collections were not only the heart of many anecdotes, but they also gave Ken so much joy and pride.
Whether it be listening to Elvis or playing bass guitar, Ken’s life was filled with music. He was a member in many local bands from the 60’s through to his passing, including The Fugitives and Mainstreet, and he spoke so fondly of his Thursday morning jam sessions. Music will continue to sing in Ken’s soul.
Family and friends, please join us in a Celebration of Life on Ken’s birthday, Wednesday, July 3rd, from 2pm to 5pm, with speeches starting at 3pm, at The Venue at 286 George Street North, in Peterborough. There is public parking on King Street. Everyone is welcome, and we encourage you to share your stories about Ken and maybe sing him a song. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.comstockkaye.com for the Kaye family.
