SHAW, Esther Elisabeth (Retired from Fleming College as Pool Co-ordinator) – Peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late William (2010) for over 60 years. Loving and beloved Mother of Brenda Byrom (Colin), Whitby; Bonnie Macdonald (David), Gilmore; Beverly McQuade (Stephan), Omemee; William (Bill) Shaw (Catherine), Cavan; Darlene McBride (Larry), Cavan; Diana Comrie (Rick), Cambridge; Denise Pritchard (Blair), Paris, ON; Bernard (Bernie) Shaw (Susanne), Russell, ON. Grandmother of 18 plus 6 acquired grandchildren, Great Grandmother of 9, plus 13 acquired great grandchildren. Sister of John Bannan (Irene), Buckhorn; Greta Bannan, Owen Sound; James Bannan (Ann), Omemee; Wanda Bannan, Lindsay. Predeceased by Thelma (Sammy) Barley, Omemee; Warren Bannan, St. Paul, AB. Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Esther was a charter member of Donwood United Church, longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and longtime member of East Peterborough Lions Club. Members of the following organizations are invited to attend the following memorial services on Thursday, July 18th at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street: 7:30 p.m.- Peterborough Chapter #161 Order of the Eastern Star and 8:00 p.m.- East Peterborough Lions Club. Public visitation will be held on Friday, July 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. A funeral service will be held at Donwood United Church on Saturday, July 20th at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to Donwood United Church or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. J. Gillis-Doyle and the PRHC, D2 Nursing staff who provided exceptional care in her final days; Dr T. Richards and his team for years of continuous kindness. Thank You from Esther: To all the family who took care to see that I had everything needed to remain at home until I was admitted to Palliative Care and to my many visitors. Thanks to the VON home nursing staff, caregivers from the Red Cross, Jean Suurd and many friends who supported her throughout her illness. Special thank you to Muriel Stewart who was always there.
