Robinson, Dorothy Sarah (nee McElroy) passed away suddenly in her 95th year Oct. 8th, at PRHC surrounded by her loving family. Formerly of Bridgenorth, born and raised in Keene Nov. 2, 1928. Dot will be sorely missed by her dedicated and loving husband, Garry. She also leaves behind her four sons that adore her, Christopher (Nora), Steve (Patti), Brad (Mary Anne) and Marshall (Tracey). A proud and loving grandmother to Kyle & Kayti, Jake, Jessy (Pete) & Pamela (Colin), Zachary (Shelby), Riley & Jeremiah, Brielle & Michael. Great Grandmother to Damen, Phoenix, Peyton, Hazel, Maggie and Garrett. Also missed by her sister Keitha Davey (Russ) and many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents William and Roxie (Moncrief), and her siblings Lila McDonald (Doug), Keith (Ruth), Marion Bickle (Don). Dorothy began her working career as a young woman at Outboard Marine Corporation. When she met the love of her life, Garry, she gave up her career to marry and stay at home and raise their four boys. Dot's child rearing consisted of tremendous outings and adventures to beaches, picnic areas, farms and hikes. Dot was an amazing seamstress and fashioned many outfits and jackets for all family members. She was an active member of Bridgenorth United Church, and a Sunday school teacher for nearly a decade. With the inception of the Bridgenorth Minor Lacrosse Association in 1967, Dot was a full-time volunteer and an avid lacrosse mom for many years. Dot eventually returned to the work force, working in the print shop at Sir Sandford Fleming Collage. Her success there resulted in a job opportunity at the Peterborough County Board of Education as foreman in the print shop. She retired from there mid 1980's. When Garry retired soon after, their years were filled with cross country skiing, swimming and boating at their lakefront home and travelling around the world. Winters were spent in Florida. They were both members of Kawartha Golf and Country Club until 2017. Dot was also a voracious reader and often found lost in a novel in a cozy chair with a glass of her favourite brandy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, from 12:00 - 1:15 pm followed by a service in the chapel at 1:30 pm. Immediately following the service, all are invited to a reception at the funeral home. Interment Little Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Peterborough Alzheimer Society and/or Community Care Peterborough in Dorothy's memory.
