It is with great sadness that the family of Dean Albert Wasson (CPA) announce his passing at age 93 on March 25, 2024 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. He was the beloved husband of Freda (Floyd) for 73 years.
Loving father of Jim Wasson, Bob Wasson, Lynn Pulham (Gary), Gail McQuigge (Tom), Karen Lukaszewicz (Mike) and Joel Wasson. He was the grandfather of Kristy, Heather, Ryan, Sarah, Tori, Jeff, Melissa, Danielle, Josh, Joey, Katrina, Brian, Anne, Jared, Caden, Trey and Sadie. Great-grandfather of Asher, Zenon, Luke, Georgia, Harper, Wyatt, Rory, Max, Alex, Mardie, Kalina, Oliver and Max. Brother of Cheryl Reid and the late Cameron, Royden and Don “Red” Wasson, Elaine Lytle, and Neil Wasson. Son of the late Ralph and Fern Wasson. Brother-in-law of Bert Reid, Ben Floyd, Jack Byers, Marie and Helena Wasson. Predeceased by Don Floyd, Ken Floyd and Wilma Byers.
Dean spent a 42-year career with GE Canada in various management positions. Upon his retirement, he served as an Alderman for the City of Peterborough, as a member of the Hospital Board, and showed incredible dedication as volunteer founder of Kawartha Food Share. He was also very active in the United Church of Canada.
Dean loved playing sports and watching his children and grandchildren in various arts and sporting activities. One of his favourite pastimes was coaching his sons in hockey. He was a very proud father and grandfather.
Friends will be received at Northminster United Church (300 Sunset Blvd.) Saturday April 6, 2024, from 10:15 am to 11:15 am. The service will begin at 11:30 am, followed by a reception. Interment at Warsaw Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to Kawartha Food Share or Peterborough Regional Health Center. Online condolences may be left at comstockkaye.com.
