Born to Gordon and Irene Swaney in Archbold, Ohio on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1957, Becky a ttended and graduated from Maumee Valley Country Day School and Skidmore College. She moved to Boston shortly after college where she married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Dean Kasperzak. Together they returned to Ohio to start a family and had two daughters, Hannah and Maude.
Becky loved - and obsessed over - preparing elaborate meals for her friends and family and even for a pet or two. She tasted her way around the world, and for 15 years in a row she was the hostess of Toledo’s ‘Taste of the nation’ kickoff party benefitting Share Our Strength’s cause to eliminate childhood hunger.
A board member of Maumee Valley Country Day School for ten years, in 2001 Becky was awarded the Alumni Service Award which recognized her outstanding service to MVCDS. In 2011, the school dedicated The Kasperzak Center in honor of Dean and Becky’s commitment to the capital campaign to build the new upper school.
She was a member of the Country Garden Club of Perrysburg. Nature’s Nursey Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservancy Center was also a cause very near and dear to her heart, and she served on the board and as a volunteer for the organization for many years.
Becky is survived by her husband Dean, two daughters Hannah and Maude, and two sisters Laura and Allyn.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their help and support.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held at Carranor Hunt & Polo Club on Saturday, February 8th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM; attire is business casual.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Nature’s Nursery Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation & Conservation Education, www.natures-nursery.org, 419.877.0060.
