Judge William H. Young

He was born May 31, 1924 in Peoria to Thomas H and Eileen (Alexander) Young. He married Alice “Allie” Joslyn in Woodstock, IL in 1948. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1996 in Peoria.

Also preceding in death were his daughters, Joslyn and Megan Young and his brother, Robert Young.

Surviving are his children; Carolyn (Michael) Walters of Fair Oaks, CA, Brian (Sandra) Young of Peoria and Kevin (Barbara) Young of Glen Ellyn, IL; and his 5 grandsons, Michael, Nathan and Cameron Young and Christopher and Jeremy Walters.

He was an Officer in the US Navy during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater.

He was a graduate of Peoria Central High School and the University of Illinois, remaining active with the alumni associations of both schools.

As an attorney in Peoria he practiced with the firm Kellstadt & Young until his appointment to the bench in the 10th Judicial Circuit in Illinois where he served in Peoria and Tazewell counties until his retirement in 1992.

He was a member of the Peoria Rotary, Mt Hawley Country Club and the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

He was a Past Chairman of Peoria County GOP and served as a delegate to the 1960 Republican National Convention.

He thoroughly enjoyed dining with the “Friday Night Soup Group”, golfing and spending time with his family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 22 at Davison – Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The Rev. Mike Walters will officiate. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Chapel of Peace in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
