Bill was born January 27, 1934, in Shawano, WI to Oscar and Bess (Jensen) Engel. He married Marilyn (Stout) Moilien on December 29, 1996 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three step-children, Timothy and Kevin Moilien of Peoria, and Diane (Scott) Gordon of Lafayette, CO; six grandchildren, Andrea (Nicholas) Kenny of Dunlap, Ben Gordon of Breckenridge, CO, Evan (Therese) Gordon of Fort Collins, CO, Cullen Gordon of Denver, CO, Nicholas Moilien of Fort Collins, CO, and Geoffrey Moilien of Peoria; three great-grandchildren, Jamie, Arabella, and Adrianna; one sister, Gretchen Bailey of Raleigh, NC; many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Krista (William) Hunt of Princeton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Christopher Moilien, and a brother-in-law, Bruce Bailey.
Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Design Engineer with Caterpillar Inc., for over 41 years, retiring in 1997. Bill was a member of several Caterpillar Bowling Leagues and Golf Leagues, as well as a Peoria Chapter Barber Shop group and Quartet. He was an avid skier and also belonged to the Peoria Ski Club. Bill was an accomplished small aircraft pilot, and lifetime member of EAA, that competed in aerial acrobatic events around the country. He was a board member of the Windchime Condo association, a philanthropist, a proud American and he was of the Lutheran faith.
A funeral service will be at 5:00pm on Friday, November 19, 2021, with visitation from 3pm until the start of the service at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Cremation will be accorded following the service and a burial of the urn will be at Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
