He was born February 19, 1941 in Spring Valley, Illinois to Walter and Alice (Jensen) Chonowski.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Brogan of Peoria; son, Andrew Chonowski (Meghann Smith); brother, Daniel (Mary) Chonowski; and several nieces and nephews.
Butch had many career endeavors including; teacher at Streator High School; owner and operator of the Circus Bar in Spring Valley; farming near Princeton and he worked for Chonowski Construction throughout his life.
He was an avid reader, historian of the Civil War, motorcycle enthusiast and animal lover.
Butch especially enjoyed social time with friends at the cheese factory in Tiskilwa.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm until funeral services begin at 4:00 pm at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home at 2408 West Willow Knolls Rd in Peoria. Cremation will be accorded following service.
Memorials are suggested to the American Stroke Association or the South Side Mission.
