Viola Jeanie Childs

(Viola) Jeanie Childs age 93 of Peoria IL passed away on November 20th, 2023 at 930pm at her residence. She was born on October 1st, 1930 to Mable and Frank Workman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth Childs, Spencer Wartz, Henry G. Hess, Bill Norton; one grandson Jeffery Hess and one granddaughter Amanda Blair.

Survivors include two sons; Randy (Sherry) Hess of Morton IL, (Robert I) Bob Hess of Pekin IL, and one daughter Gail Hahn of Peoria IL. She had 6 grandchildren (Amanda), Jerome (Wendy) Hess of Pekin IL, Monica (Jeremy) Bakken of Chestnut IL, Courtney (Andrew) Williams of Beloit WI, Robert II (Susan) Hess of Green Valley IL and (Jeffery). She had 12 great grandchildren, Tiffany, Peyton, Megan, Tanner, Tristen, Mason, Destini, Joaduth, Alexis, Jerret, Colin, and Evan. She also had two great great grandchildren Kenzlie and Nova.

Jeanie worked several years at Proctor Hospital Oncology Group after she retired she continued to volunteer for the hospital as well. She was a very caring person with a heart of gold. She loved to dance, travel, go to church. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends, being with family and going on bus trips. The family would like to give her best friend Beverly a very special thank you for all the extra help in our absence that she gave to Jeanie in this time of need.
