10, 2013 at his home. Ron was born to Irene Addy on May 15, 1934. A lifelong Peorian,
Ron attended Woodruff High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in the mid-1950’s
and served with pride. After his stint with the Air Force, he continued his years of
service by working at the Air National Guard. He completed his career with the City of
Peoria’s Public Works Department, where he retired in 1995.
Ron married Dora McMillan on October 25, 1957 and they recently celebrated 56 years
together. Surviving are his wife Dora Addy of Peoria Heights, and his daughters -Ronda
Addy of Peoria Heights and Jill (Tim) Wright, of Peoria. His brother-in-law, Dan
McMillan (Kathy) of Odell also survives.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother Irene Addy, his father-in-law and mother-inlaw,
Claude and Edna McMillan, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law along with his
extended family of aunts and uncles on his mother’s side of the family.
While his actual biological family has always been rather small, Ron more than made up
for it with his close-knit extended family including his “other daughters”, Heidi (Kevin)
Stearns and Malinda (John) Radloff. Anyone who is reading this probably already knows
that the four people who brought him the most joy would be his best buddies – Garris,
Kaden and Drake Radloff and Kian McCandless. The joy that these four boys brought to
“Big Ron” can never be expressed enough and for that his family will always be grateful.
Ron was a fixture in Peoria Heights, walking, biking, helping out his neighbors with any
fix-it project they had in the works and making sure he had the most impeccable yard on
Prospect. In fact, rather than writing this, we are certain that he would prefer we were out
raking his leaves.
A private memorial service will be at a later date. In lieu flowers, the family has
requested memorial be made to The Greater Peoria Honor Flight. Online condolences to
the family may be made at www.davison-fulton.com
