Roland Carl Flanagan, 88, of East Peoria, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Saxony Senior Living in East Peoria. He was born on November 7, 1934 in Peoria, a son of John Orville and Bernadine Marie (Pitsch) Flanagan. Roland married Beverly June Beck on February 14, 1976 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his three sons, Brad (Jun) Wenger of Morton, Jerry (Sharon) Wenger of Groveland and Steve (Mickie) Wenger of Washington; sister, Joan (Max) Cheatham of East Peoria; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved pet dog, Maizie.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
He was a graduate of Woodruff High School. Roland served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1963.
Roland last worked as a mail clerk for CEFCU. He previously had worked as a security guard for ICC and as a mail carrier for the United State Postal Service for 35 years.
Roland was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where he served as an usher. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved to work crossword puzzles.
Roland's visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with full military honors. Rev. John Hopwood will officiate.
