He was born on September 27, 1937 in Peoria, IL to Daniel J. and Elenora (Hexamer) Hartnett. He married Judith Courtney in 1972, she preceded him in death in 1982. He later married Judee Collins on October 8, 1988 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his three sons, Larry (Kate) Hartnett of Morton, Michael (Allie) Hartnett of Cary, NC, Craig (Christine) Hartnett of Washington; two step-daughters, Anissa Weber of Springfield, IL and Lea Ann (Chris) Grimm of East Peoria; twelve grandchildren, Ashleigh, Nick, Matt, Rachel, Eric, Tyler, Luke, Harrison, Landon, Laura, William, and Addison; two great-grandchildren and one brother, Terry Hartnett of Austin, TX.
Richard served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea and was a graduate of Bradley University, with a Degree in Business Administration. He worked as a Procurement Manager with Komatsu American Corp in Peoria. He attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching Bradley Basketball.
A private service will be held. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
