Phyllis was born September 12, 1931 to Augustus Logan and Mary Caroline (Robertson) Luther in White Oak, MO. She is survived by her husband Caroll King who she married on May 9, 1953 in Holcomb, MO.
She is also survived by her children, Gary (Kathy) King, Barbara (Tom) Stoneman, Karen (Brian) Jensen and Charles King; grandchildren, Susan Borchardt, Stephen and Brian King, Taylor, Andrew, and Lara Jensen; four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and four brothers.
Phyllis graduated from Southwest Missouri State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She taught at Holcomb School District and Fordland High School, both in Missouri. She concluded her successful working career as an Executive Secretary at North Platte Research and Extension Agency.
Phyllis’ family was very important to her. Whether as Mom, or as the youngest in a family of 11 children, she was selfless and always helped in any was she could. She was an exceptional cook and a very talented seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed vacations and traveling, especially by car, around the country.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday September 18, 2014 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to the time of service. Pastor Michael Shirey will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
