Mary was born in 1922 to Henry and Ethel Brandenburg in Appleton, Wisconsin. Her husband, Jack Tollefson, died in 1992.
She is survived by her son Jack and his wife Linda, by her son Mark and his wife Bonnie, and by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mary was a veteran who served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during World War 2. She was always a helpful and loving wife and mother. She was a faithful servant at her church and participated in a variety of ministries.
Mary was sharp, energetic, and independent all of her life. She was always cheerful and friendly to everyone she met, and she will be remembered fondly by a great many people.
Mary’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 5, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 116 NE Perry Ave, Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service beginning at Noon. A reception will follow the service at the church. All of Mary’s friends and relatives are invited to attend at any of these times. Entombment will be at the American Mausoleum in a private ceremony. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family through www.Woolsey-Wilton.com
Memorial contributions may be made to the “Loaves and Fish Ministry” at First United Methodist Church of Peoria. This was a ministry that Mary served faithfully for many years and was very dear to her heart. As an alternative, Mary thought that our military veterans deserved better care and treatment, so she would have also appreciated contributions to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the veterans charity of your choice.
We wish blessings to you all, from Mary and her family.
