Marvin Dale Kempf, Sr. of Yates City, passed away peacefully with his family around him at OSF St. Francis, Peoria, IL, on Tuesday March 6th, 2018.
He was born September 3rd, 1929 in Roanoke to Joshua and Lucy Kempf. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. Previously married to Margaret Clayton in Leeds, England, (divorced). They had one son, Llewelln (Diane, deceased), of Yates City, formerly from Canyon Lake, TX.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife Rebecca (Crawford) of Union City, TN. They had five sons: Marvin Dale Kempf Jr., of Pekin, Daniel (Angela), of Creve Coeur, Darryl of Yates City, Michael, of Yates City, and Matthew of Yates City. Marvin also had three step daughters: Martha (Earl) Buell, of Peoria, Carol (Skip, deceased) Schertz, of Peoria, and Judy (James), of Forest City. Marvin was preceeded in death by his brother Bill (Clara - she survives) Kempf, of Eureka, and his sisters Naomi (John - deceased) Peters, of Eureka, and Wilma (Ben - he survives) Blunier, of Eureka. Marvin had 16 grand children, and several great grand children.
He worked for Peter's Service Station in Peoria, and operated Marv's Sinclair, later retiring from Caterpillar in 1991. Marvin gave his heart to Jesus on September 14th, 2000. He loved gardening, listening to Gospel music, and watching TV.
A visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A funeral service will be Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Cavallo will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
