Marion L. Shepherd

Marion L. Shepherd, 86, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 7:18 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born January 25, 1928 in Mattoon, IL to Theodore and Viola (Wilhelm) Homann. She married Glen E. Shepherd in Peoria on January 2, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Weyhrich; and brother, John Homann. Surviving are 6 children, Mark (Michele) Shepherd of Cedar Rapids, IA, Peggy (Leonard) Livengood of Edwards, Ty (Lori) Shepherd of Peachtree City, GA, Jeff Shepherd of Peoria Heights, Jill (David) Reatherford of Germantown Hills; Craig (Kimberly) Shepherd of Dunlap; 21 grandchildren, Amber, Ingrid, Melissa, Heidi, Katrice, Brent, Blair, Seth, Jeremy, Tiffany, Stephanie, Julie, Matthew, Rachel, Trisha, Brittany, Corey, Collin, Jessica, Micah, and Sadie; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Warren Homann of Peoria; and 6 nieces and nephews. Marion worked for area State Farm agents for many years before retiring. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria and was an active volunteer there and with many other organizations. Marion loved her family deeply and they were her greatest joy in life. Each of them were a cherished treasure given to her by God. She lived a life of service to her Lord, her church, and family. Her smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Services for Marion will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Synnott officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, with further visitation one hour before services Friday at her Church.
