Marianne (Gorenz) Roszell, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home with her loving family beside her. She was born October 10, 1928 in Peoria, IL to Leo Joseph Gorenz Sr. and Elsie Emma Gottwald (Gorenz). She married Douglas Bourne Roszell on September 11, 1949 who preceded her in death in 1981.
Marianne was a selfless and strong Mother to Nancy (James) Stephenson of Beulah, MI, Richard Roszell (deceased) and John Roszell of Knoxville, TN and an inspiring Grandmother to Amy (Ben) Boss, Laura (Jesse) Pareja, Katie (Trevor) Frederickson, Joseph (Jordan) Roszell, Christine (Christopher) Quick and Annie (Tony) Golliday in addition to 12 great-grandchildren.
Marianne graduated from Woodruff High School and attended Bradley University where she was a founding member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She worked in administration at Keystone Steele and Wire and devoted over 25 years to working at Gorenz and Associates, LLC. Marianne was a committed member of First Federated Church and the King’s Daughter’s & Son’s Organization – Mizpah Circle for over 70 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Proctor Hospital gift shop (over 20 years) and the Heartland Clinic.
Marianne loved spending time with her family and her friends and had many talents over the years, including dancing, cooking, baking, hosting, and playing cards. She will be lovingly remembered all those who shared in her laughter, benefited from her wisdom, and felt the depth of her love.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Lutheran Hillside Village, 6901 N Galena Rd, Peoria, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons (IOKDS) organization. Checks can be made out to IOKDS and mailed to P.O. Box 1017, Chautauqua, NY 14722. Donations will fund education-based scholarships for students.
