She was born December 7, 1924 in Peoria, a daughter of Edward and Mary Regina Hoeppner McIntyre. She married Richard L. Thompson on September 28, 1944 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1981 in Hanna City.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy, one sister, and three brothers.
Surviving are five children, Thomas (Pat) Thompson of Peoria, Nancy (Carl, deceased) Skaggs of Canton, Mary (Jeff, deceased) Essex of Peoria, Kayla (Kent, deceased) Suydam of Washington, and Terry Thompson of Peoria; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; three sisters, Ann (Ray) Schraeder of AZ, Agnes Sollberger of Peoria, Bernice (Bob) Knapp of Washington; and one brother, Bernard (Pat) McIntyre of Sterling.
Margaret worked for Hiram Walker and Sons Inc. in Peoria in the Bottling Department retiring in 1981. She then worked as a devoted dishwasher for Gil’s Supper Club in Hanna City for 18 years.
She was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.
She was a member of Hiram Walker Rod and Gun Club, Hiram Walker Bowling League, and St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria.
A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria. Fr. Terry Cassidy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
