She was born June 1, 1943 in Canton, IL to George and Hannah Link and was raised by her grandparents Richard and Mayme Shaw. She married Thomas C. Saupe on December 28, 1961 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2021. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a sister-in-law, Linda Staley, and a half brother.
Surviving are her three children, Thomas Saupe Jr. (Debra Schexnayder) of New Orleans, LA, Dallas Saupe (Stephanie Johnson) of Clearwater, FL, and Valeri Brod (Douglas) of Washington; grandchildren, Austin Saupe, Nicholas Stainback, Carter Saupe, Justin Smith, Madeline Brod, Cormac “Mac” Brod, Adam Breaux, Renee Breaux, and Lilly Balcar; a brother-in-law, Nyle Staley and sister-in-law, Peggy (Gary) Willis.
Linda was a graduate of Manual Technical High School. She became a proud Air Force wife and started her family at Dover Air Force Base. Using sewing skills learned helping to care for her foster siblings, she became a Base Tailor. Her most solemn duty was to prepare fallen service member’s uniforms for their final trip home from the Vietnam War. After their retirement from the Air Force she became a self-employed tailor and seamstress in Peoria. Linda was also a member of the Timberlake Country Club, active in her children's schools, and freely provided uniform fittings for area schools and organizations. Linda loved traveling with her husband, watching movies, reading Danielle Steel novels and exploring the beauty of architecture.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 1, 2022 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Parkview Cemetery.
