She was born on June 24, 1958 in Peoria to Alan and Geneva (Billman) Mears.
Julie is preceded in death by her father Alan Mears; mother, Geneva Townsend; step-father, James Townsend; brothers, Bruce and Brad Mears; and brother-in-law, Mark Jones.
She is survived by her sisters, Janet Jones and Laura (Kevin) Landmann; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Brittney, Kelsey, Caitlin, Alana, Tesa, Evan and Lukas; and several aunts, uncles, and great-nieces and nephews.
Julie attended East Peoria High School. She worked at UPS for over 10 years until her retirement in 2023. Julie has made many friends through her work at UPS, Kroger, and her home cleaning business. She regularly attended University United Methodist Church.
Julie was known for her feisty spirit, and loved to have a good time. She was a cat mom to Miss Kitty and Stinky Butt. Julie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a passion for mushroom hunting. She was a very present aunt and niece, and will be missed dearly.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Dr. Timothy Smile and his team with OSF Radiation, Dr. Greg Gerstner and his team at Illinois Cancer Care, and to special friends Ann, Dave, Caitlin, Peter and Tyner Galick. The family would also like to extend gratitude to Reverend Mary Kathryn Pearce for all of her support through the years. Jerry Peschke and Allene Harms were both instrumental in Julie's care.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Julie's Memorial service will be held at University United Methodist Church on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11am, with a visitation to start an hour prior at 10am.
