Jerome "J.J." Calvin Costic

Mr. Jerome “J.J.” Calvin Costic, 47, of East Peoria, IL, departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Jerome, who was known by all as “J.J.” was born on September 26, 1975 to Jerome Costic and the late Betty J. Petty-Costic in Peoria, IL.

JJ was a humble man who possessed a quiet mannerism. Although a very private person, he did not hold back when it came to expressing his love for his children and his family. He was a dedicated gamer who loved to challenge, his son Jerome, in fighting games; which young Jerome could never beat him.

JJ leaves to cherish his memories his father and step-mother, Jerome and Lynne Costic of Peoria, four daughters, Tanika “TK” Smith of Fulton, KY, Kira and Karris Costic, of Metamora, IL; two sons, Spec 4 Jerome Costic Jr. of Ft. Bragg, NC, and Jaelen Costic of Metamora, IL; five brothers, Jeff Booker, of Long Beach, CA, Aric (Tammy) Costic of Memphis, TN, and Darin (Shawn) Petty, Michael (Laura) Costic, Kendrick Davies, all of Peoria, IL; two sisters, Ava M. Petty-Williams of Indianapolis, IN, and Carleitha Alexander of Scramento, CA; three grandchildren, Brenden Cole Smith, Rylen Makhi Smith, and Ke’Aren Jerome Smith all of Fulton, KY; his paternal grandmother Mary J. Welch, aunts Jacqueline McKinley, Joann Coats, and Patricia Wade; uncles Rev. Robert (Irma) Costic, Michael E. Welch, and Charles (Jewette) Wade; a host of cousins; life friends and the mothers of his children, Tonya L. Smith and Keisha Darling; and his friend since childhood Scottie Gaston.

In addition to his mother, Betty J. Petty-Costic, JJ was preceded in death by his twin sister, Betty Costic; maternal grandparents, Henry and Margaret Wade; paternal grandfather, Henry L. Welch; step-grandparents, George and Jean Taylor; and uncles, George A. Welch and Henry (Sonny) Welch.

JJ had been a laborer working various jobs throughout his lifetime, last employed at SC2.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Minister Robert Costic will be the officant. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will then be accorded.
