She was born in Peoria on December 15, 1989 to Bud and Crystal (Oedewaldt) Dowell. They survive.
Also surviving is her sister, Kaylee (Eloise) Arnold; grandma, Wanda Oedewaldt; aunts, Selese (Paul) Anderson, Jennifer (Patrick) Towne, and Verna Hankins; cousins, Connor and Samantha Towne, Natalie and Ryan Anderson; her beloved pets, Sasha, Mumford and Goose; as well as several more aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, James Oedewaldt, Verla and Vernon Dowell; cousin, Michael Dowell; and dog companion, Doug.
Jamie was a proud graduate of Dunlap High School. She later graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Creative Writing. She was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Phi Theta Kappa, and a volunteer for TAPS (Tazewell Animal Protective Society). She was an accomplished photographer and freelance writer with numerous publications.
She worked for Peoria County as a Communications Coordinator. She especially loved her business as a Pet Care Professional.
Jamie loved animals, specifically dogs. She also loved Disney. She collected Disney memorabilia, owning more than 40 pairs of Disney ears, had been a stockholder in Walt Disney World, and traveled to Orlando often. She also enjoyed playing video games.
Jamie was a very generous person and gift giver. She was known to be extremely organized and a meticulous planner.
Jamie's Funeral service will be held at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Wilton on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:30am, with a visitation to start two hours prior at 9:30am. Burial will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TAPS, Peoria Humane Society or an Animal Shelter of the donor's choice.
