He was born Dec. 19, 1937 in St. Louis, MO to Rev. William J. and Helen (Becherer) Richardson. He married Wanda L. Keistler on Aug. 16, 1959 in Peoria. She survives along with three children: Pam (Kent) Atkinson of Crystal Lake, IL, Laura (Randy) Arnold of Chillicothe, Lisa (Gary) Bowen of Dunlap, ten grandchildren: Brandon (Tally) Atkinson, Ashley (John) Carter, Chelsea (Matthew) Payauys, Joshua (Christine) Arnold, Kristin (Tyler) Myers, Melissa (Andrew) Goss, Dylan (Ashlei) Bowen, Brady (Becca) Bowen, Bryson Bowen, and Delana Bowen. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and one brother, Fred (Linda) Richardson of Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: William and David Richardson.
Jim earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois after which he taught school for five years while earning a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Western Illinois University. In 1969, Jim also earned a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky while serving as an Associate Pastor at Beechland Baptist Church. In 1970, he then received a call to Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria, Illinois where he served as Associate Pastor and Music & Christian Education Director until his retirement in 2010.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
