Glenn was born May 13, 1922, in Sesser, Illinois, to Stephen Thomas and Laura Dell Hamilton.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou (White) Hamilton; his children, Janice (Mark) Rasmussen of Goreville, IL, and Bruce (Lani) Hamilton of Kaneohe, HI; his grandchildren Kristy (Brett) Vukmanic of Chesapeake, VA
and Scott (Ashley) Vicary of Peoria, IL; his three great grandchildren, Fiona and Piper Vukmanic and Brox Vicary.
Glenn married Rosalie Petit on May 11, 1944, and their union lasted until her death in 2002. During that time, Glenn worked at Keystone Steel & Wire and was an active member of University United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer and coordinator for many social activities. Glenn took pride in but never boasted about his heroic service to the country during World War II while serving with the 96th Infantry Division, “Deadeyes,” in Leyte-Okinawa.
Glenn loved traveling, bowling, fishing, completing jigsaw puzzles, reunions, and spending time with his friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Glenn would never end a family gathering before taking a family photograph. In recent years, he and Mary attended Christian Union Church in Metamora, IL, and enjoyed the friendships formed at Snyder Village.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and three brothers. Glenn will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held at Christian Union Church in Metamora, IL, on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 11a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be held at Swan Lake Memory Garden in Peoria, IL, at 1:00 p.m.
