George A. Fulton, 80, resident of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, died Monday, March 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 12, 1942 in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of George A. and Marietta Gleason Fulton and raised on a farm near Alexander, Illinois.
A graduate of Routt High School in Jacksonville and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, George has been a licensed funeral director since 1962. He was the owner and director of Davison-Fulton Funeral Chapels from July, 1968 until December, 1989 when he affiliated the business with Dignity Memorial and continued his life long career in the funeral profession, being licensed for over 60 years.
George was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish of Peoria and the Episcopal Parish, and founding member warden Emeritus of Christ Church by the Sea in Puerto Vallarta. He was an active volunteer with the International Friendship Club and Pasitos de Luz, organizations that serve handicapped and disadvantaged children in Puerto Vallarta.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Todd A. and Molly Fulton of Hanna City, Kirk B. and Melissa Fulton of Bartonville and Jeff E. and Laura Fulton of Morton and one daughter and her husband, Lisa E. and Todd Ransom of Henry; twelve grandchildren, Joseph, Emerick, Ellie, Jon, Dana and her husband Jared Porter, Amber and her husband Dalton Huber, Brandon, Lily, Eve, Jessica and her husband Matt Havin, Amanda and Zach; great-grandchildren, Lizzy, Anna, Scarlett, Martin, Isaac, Isaiah, Grace, Philip, Capri, Kenneth and Payson; and one sister, Judy Fulton of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sharon O’Day, and one great grandchild, Carolyn.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Jonathan Thomas and Rev. Jenny Replogle on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service with the ashes being inurned in the family garden at Parkview Cemetery.
