Lynne and family,

So sorry to hear about Gary.  I only knew him vicariously through you, but the few times I talked to him I always thought he seemed like a good man.  I'm glad I got to know Gary, if only for a little while.

I worked with Gary for over 20 years both at  Caterpillar  and Techom.  I remember his visits to Texas to ask about shows and marketing.  We would travel to Canada for trade shows and get the chance to grab a meal or two.  He always had a great attitude and willing to help get the job done.  He invited me to see his house one day and show off is yard, it looked like a gulf corse.  He had many qualities that others often over looked, but he was one of the good guys .... just being Gary.

I met Gary when I was a college intern at Caterpillar working on his team. At the time both he and my mom were struggling with the dating scene. Gary struck me as a nice guy and seemed normal enough, so I introduced the two of them thinking they might enjoy swapping crazy dating stories and maybe make a new friend. I never in a million years expected them to get married but feel so incredibly grateful to have had him as my step dad for the past 18 years. Not only has he been a wonderful partner for my mom, but he didn’t hesitate to welcome my siblings and me into his family and be there for us through both the good times and the bad times. He’s driven long distances to help us move, jumped in and helped get everything set up on my wedding day when the wedding planner showed up an hour late, and has been a loving grandpa to our children. We’ve taken so many fun family vacations and made so many amazing memories. I know he tried his hardest to fight cancer and stick around as long as he could for all of us. I’m so appreciative to have had him in my life for the time I did. He will be dearly missed.

I got to know Gary over the last couple of years. I enjoyed the time we spent together playing games with the family; and, the time we spent together on family vacations.  He always had patience explaining the rules of Quincy to me. 
Gary welcomed me immediately; and, I will always appreciate his kindness. 
He had great stories to share about life and his experiences. He always made you feel at ease and comfortable.  He is a great man and we will miss him dearly.

  I am blessed to call this man my brother in law.  He is one of the kindest,  most generous people that I have known.  A true saint.  I will remember him for being  the  first in line to visit my children when they were born,  for giving my sister a wonderful life full of adventure,  and for the amazing Thanksgiving feasts at his dinner table. 
I am thankful for every memory . He will be so missed 

    
   
    


My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. May all the wonderful moments you have shared together over the years bring you peace in your time of sadness.

Gary was best man at our wedding in 2014. His solemn but smiling face made him the perfect person to grace our ceremony. 
Although he was never born a blood relative to us, he was always considered as dear as a brother.
He was a blessing in our life and will be deeply missed.
