Peoria – Francis J. Greenway, 91, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Aperion Care Morton Villa in Morton. He was born on May 10, 1930, a son of Moses N. and Pearlie Mae (Gullage) Greenway. He married Betty J. Roberts on October 23, 1948 in Carent, MS. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2009 in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jean; and two sons, James and W.C.
Francis is survived by his seven children, Billy Greenway of Mackinaw, Robbie Greenway of Peoria, Donnie (Wanda) Greenway of Wyoming, Meg (David) Hamilton of Wyoming, David Greenway of Peoria, Tina Johnson of Bloomington, and Christopher (Polly) Greenway of Brimfield; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jean (Gene) Dodd of Dayton, OH; and two brothers, Rex (Nora) Greenway of Lexington, TN and Tommy Greenway of Chicago.
Francis worked as an assembler for Caterpillar, Inc. for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a former member of the Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church in East Peoria.
Francis's funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, December 3, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Pastor David Hamilton will officiate. His visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also on Friday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or the South Side Mission in Peoria.
