Ernest B Rutherford

Ernest was born on March 13, 1945 in Blue Mountain, MS, to the late Mr. Archie and Lovell Rutherford. He moved to Peoria, IL as a young boy with his parents and siblings. His siblings are James R. Rutherford (Linda), Peoria, IL Shirley M. Rutherford, Peoria, IL, Tabitha (Rutherford) Foster, Marietta, GA. LaRissa Rutherford, of Peoria, IL, Nicholas Rutherford (Jametta) of Peoria, IL.

Ernest graduated from Manual High School where he excelled in sports and in the Arts. He also attended Illinois Central College where he pursued a certification in welding.

Ernest was employed at Komatsu Dresser for 32 years from July 1, 1970 thru July 1, 2003, he was a dedicated and hardworking individual who hardly missed work. He retired from Komatsu Dresser on July 1, 2003.

Ernest, who married his beloved loving wife, the late Mrs. Christine Rutherford on March 28, 1965. They were married for 48 years and in that union, they had five children. Ernest loved his children and was a great provider for his family. Shirine Rutherford, of East Peoria, Sheane V. Rutherford (Lashon) of Mesa, AZ, Turrinea L.Rutherford, of Yorkville, IL, Tylease L. Rutherford, Peoria, IL and Tyson Rutherford, Peoria, IL. Ernest had 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, a host of niece and nephews and one God child Destiny Jackson.

He is preceded in death by his parents,Archie and Lovell, his wife Christine Rutherford and grandson Yisrael D.B. Young.

A Celebration of life will be held at Northwoods Church on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2 p.m.

A repass will follow the ceremony.
