He was born November 25, 1953 in Davenport, Iowa to Donn and Marguerite (Dillie) Johnson. He married Deborah Knoppkie on May 27, 1977 in Chillicothe. She survives along with three children: Jason Johnson of Centralia, IL, Kara (Luke) Gibbs of Knoxville, IL, Mike (Jennelle) Johnson of Dade City, FL, seven grandchildren: Logan, Keegan, Horatio, Gracie, Russell, Cali, Jordy, two nieces: Robin (Mark) Mueller of Taylor Ridge, IL, and Charissa (Mike) Comerota of Cape Coral, Fl. He is also survived by six great-nieces and nephews: Macy, Morgan, Abby, Reid, Samantha, and Jessica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Donn Johnson, one brother, Robert Donn Johnson, and one niece, Julie Johnson.
Ed was a United States Army veteran. He worked for the Greater Peoria Sanitary District from 1974 till his retirement in 2006.
He loved attending car shows with his “Car Show Group” and enjoyed showing his 1962 midnight blue Chevy Impala. Ed won a lot of top 50 awards for this car.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a Celebration of Edward’s Life on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home at 2408 West Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria. On Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. there will be a Car Show Lunch-In at the 50's Diner in the metro center, bring an old car if you can!
