David W Whitten

He was born on July 18, 1941 in Peoria to Warren and Ann (Hayes) Whitten. He married Henrietta Borg on June 3, 1967 in Putnam, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his four children,Robyn (Keith) Gay of North Carolina, Kim (Greg) Evans of Peoria, Chris (Ralph) Carmichael also of Peoria, and Scott (Jeni) Whitten of Bartonville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tom Whitten.

David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1966, achieving the rank Airman First Class before his honorable discharge. He continued his service to his community as a Fireman for the Peoria Fire Department for 20 years before retiring as a Captain and was a member of the Peoria Firefighters Local 50. David was the Owner of D & H RV and Trailer Repair from 1992 until the present. He also worked as a Carpenter with several area business and was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 237.

David enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, watching NASCAR and was involved in Stock Car Racing, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at Noon on Saturday, February 17, 2024 with visitation from 10 am until the start of the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
