David P. Schafer

He was born December 8, 1985 in Peoria and is survived by his children, Ava and Francis; mother, Diann (Danny) Taghan of Peoria; step-dad, Michael Keckler, of Peoria, grandparents, George and Shirley Schafer of West Peoria; sister, Sarah Schafer of Naples, FL; brother, George (Molly) Schafer III of Peoria Heights; step-brother, Matthew Taghan of Peoria; his “Mom # 2” Jennifer Elliott and her children, Stevie, Anthony and Kati; nieces, Aaliyah Rodriguez and Hazel Schafer; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding in death are his dad, George Schafer Jr; grandparents, Luella and Paul Franklin and cousin, Jennifer Franklin.

David was a fun loving person with the best sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and always brought the laughter! David was always someone you could call on when you needed a favor. He would show up with his tools in hand or show up to listen. David loved his kids and nieces and never wasted a moment to brag about them or show them off. He was a fan of Nascar, the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Pacers and loved to bet a wager on any of his teams.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with the Rev. Jack Thompson officiating. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested for the benefit of his children in care of Diann Taghan.
