He was born July 23, 1930 in Pierce City, MO to Frank and Beulah (Rimmer) Hamilton. He married Joyce Woodley on July 1, 1955 in Pekin. She survives along with six children: Cathy Hamilton of Peoria, Lois Zaremba of East Peoria, Rod (Kim) Hamilton of Peoria, Ben (Chris) Hamilton of Dunlap, Karla (Matt) Dickson of East Peoria, and Sally (Keith) Opper-Hosking of Washington. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeremy) Mills, Jonathan (Ivonne) Monser, Jacob (Amy) Featherston, Greg (Kaysi) Featherston, Tiffanie McNeese, Nichole Martin, Rod Hamilton Jr., Randy (Tina) Hamilton, Shawneen Hamilton, Shane Hamilton, Nate (Alaina) Hamilton, Cody Hamilton, Amanda Hamilton, Kaylee (Justin Dirks) Dickson, Alexandria Dickson, Natalie (Richard Cowser) Dickson, Elizabeth Opper, Connor Hosking, Reece Hosking, Lisa Woodley, Larry Woodley Jr., Melissa Woodley, and Christina Woodley. Also surviving are 35 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and counting, and one sister, Sharon (Roger) Morrow of Groveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry Woodley, three brothers: Don, Harold, Kenneth Hamilton, and two sisters: Patsy Hackward and Charlotte McIver.
Cliff was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. Following his time in the Military, he was a Welder for Komatsu (WABCO) in Peoria for 39 years retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Cedar Hills Baptist Church in Dunlap, the Brimfield American Legion Post 452, (where he enjoyed being the “toast” master at the Legion Sunday morning breakfasts), and also a member of the 40-8 club.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, bluegrass music, and being a “backyard mechanic”.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11 AM at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 AM, one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Combs Cemetery, 6529 N Kramm Rd, Brimfield, near Edwards, IL. with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Illinois Cancer Center on Rt. 91 in Peoria or the American Legion Post 452 & Ladies Auxiliary, 121 W Knoxville St, Brimfield, IL 61517
