She is survived by two sons, Allen (Janet) Erkert of Fredericksburg, VA; Paul (Nanci) Erkert of Waxhaw, NC; two daughters, Rosemary (Mike) Gramm of Gridley; and Carol (Mike) Rieker of Peoria. She has eight grandchildren: Amy (Jon) Ginzel; Michael (Kristi) Rieker; Christiane (Edward) Meister; Joel (Jessica) Gramm; Paul (Arianne) Gramm; Jeffery (Sarah) Erkert; Alexis (Ben) Depp; and Karen (Abram) Kovach. She also has seventeen great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Annick (Joel) Peterschmitt of Colmar, France; one brother, Jacques (Ann) Diebold of France; one brother in-law Henry Altorfer of Peoria; two sister in-laws; Dorothy Simon of San Jose, CA and Ellen Erkert of Rockford.
She was born January 18, 1929 in Nancy, France to Paul E. and Anne (Bigler) Diebold. At the age of thirteen, Chris gave her heart to Jesus Christ, and he was her Lord throughout her lifetime. She came to the United States in 1946 to attend college. In 1948 Chris married Herbert A. Erkert in Peoria. He passed away in September 2013 in Texas.
Chris was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church where she sang in the church choir, and enjoyed many close friendships. She loved her family. Her grandchildren were very important to “Mimi”, and she enjoyed watching them grow into adults.
Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church, with the church ministers officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey- Wilton Funeral Home and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
