I have had the privilege of being Chuck's friend and coworker since 1978.  I consider myself fortunate to having known him as a friend and having spent valuable time with him both at and away from work.  While he had so many positive attributes, I was perhaps most keenly aware of his pride in and love for his family.  This is a blessing that did not cease with his passing.

I had the privilege of working with Chuck at Illinois Mutual.  He was always a gentleman with a great sense of humor who conducted himself with dignity & respect to his co-workers.   He joined us earlier this year for an Illinois Mutual retiree gathering and his sense of humor was as wonderful as always.  He will be greatly missed by all of us who had the honor of working with him.  My deepest sympathy to his family.

My mother, Ruth Dugan Lukehart, and Chuck were friends beginning in grade school. Mother lived on Spring Street near the corner with Perry St. And Chuck lived further down on Perry St. I remember them reminiscing about cooking together and just having good tines roller skating, etc. in their youth. I have memories of visiting the house on Perry and of meeting Pauline, who was quite ill. I remember Jewell and how lovely she was. After some years Mother moved away  as did our family. I was able to reconnect with Chuck again in the 90's for a short time and then briefly after Mother died in 2007. He was a true gentleman, and a very kind man. You had a wonderful Dad, as you well know.

Condolences to the family.  We will greatly miss our dear friend.
