He was born on December 4, 1931 in Peoria, IL to Crawford and Gertrude (Weaver) Lowery.
Chuck married Dorothy Overend on March 19, 1951. At the time of Dorothy’s death, they had been married for 71 years.
Surviving are their five children, Janice (Rick) Swan, Dustin (Karen) Lowery, Cherry (Gary) McCoy, Julie (John) Coffey, Daren (Elizabeth) Lowery; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter.
Chuck was a savings and loan officer for over 30 years. Many of those years were spent as Vice-President of Home Federal Savings and Loan. Chuck found great pleasure in providing loans for many families within central Illinois. He was active in the Southside Businessmen’s Club for many years. Outside of work, Chuck played fastpitch softball until the age of 62 and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame in 2001. His biggest joy was playing fastpitch alongside his two sons, his sons-in-law and grandson. Chuck pitched and played third base for the Borden’s Dairy 1960 Men’s State Fastpitch Championship Team. Many lifelong friendships were born during his many seasons of playing ball.
Chuck was a devoted, lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Chuck supported his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors and pursuits. Chuck spent many enjoyable hours playing cards, bowling and dartball with friends and family.
Chuck was a proud graduate of Manual High School in 1950 and was instrumental in the success of his 50th school reunion.
A private funeral will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with burial at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
