Charlie began his life in Portland, Maine where he was born on February 21, 1941, to Floyd and Pauline (Floyd) Flagg, who preceded him in death. He graduated in 1959 from Portland High School where he played football and was a member of the Bronzy Club. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Always a dedicated and hard worker, Charlie went on to spend more than 30 years with American National Can Company and another 10 with Crown, Cork & Seal Company.

Charlie was friendly, loved being social and was most happy working in his yard, or playing golf with his wife and their many friends. They loved to travel to Las Vegas and Mesquite, Nevada and spent many winters in Florida, enjoying many cruises. Charlie also loved returning to Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine during summers, where he would reminisce with longtime friends. Charlie and Diane went on to have three children and eight grandchildren.
