She was born December 31, 1945 in Peoria to Clarence E. and Lucille Vance. She married Thomas E. Fleming on August 24, 1995 in Pilgrim, Nebraska.
She is survived by her mother, Lucille Vance Lemon of Peoria; her husband, best friend and love of her life Thomas Fleming; children, Debra (Rob) Coventry of Peoria, Cher Sproul of Peoria, Lori (Stan) Collins of Peoria Heights, and Leslie (Tucker) Kennedy of Peoria; grandchildren Ryan, Jetta, Sean, Alexandria and Tate; great grandchildren Vivienne, Charlotte and Declan; sisters Jean, Helen, Bonny, Charlene, Nancy, Margaret, and Jill; and brother Ira.
She was preceded in death by her father and 3 brothers.
Carol was the owner and President of Convalescent Management Associates.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Women of Redeemer, the National Association of Women Business Owners, Past President of the 16th Chapter of the American Healthcare Association and a past officer of the Illinois Healthcare Association.
Carol loved gardening and could make anything grow. She is remembered as a generous woman who would help anyone in need.
Carol’s family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 4:30 pm Monday, January 12, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria. The Rev. Ted Benson and Rev. Dr. Joseph Meyer will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm Monday at the church. Private burial will be accorded at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church Care Ministries or the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
