Angela Kay Nelson, 56, of Sarasota, FL formerly of Peoria passed away at her residence. She was born November 24, 1968 in Peoria, Illinois, to Carl E. and Cheryl G. Nelson Jr. and was a graduate of Bergan High School.
She received a B.A. in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University, and was employed in the IT and logistics industries in Peoria and St. Louis, MO. She later was employed by Uber, as well as the Frog Hop after moving to Sarasota, FL. She also worked as a nanny for several years, and enjoyed dog sitting for many clients, as well as volunteering regularly for Southeastern Guide Dogs.
She is survived by her parents, Carl E. Nelson Jr. and Cheryl G. Nelson (Roddy), both of Peoria; and brothers, Rev. Gregory E. Nelson of Mendota, IL and Dr. Bradley M. Nelson (Jeremy Beshears) of St. Louis, MO.
Angie was a bright light in the lives of the people she encountered, and her charming wit and irresistible ability to share the joy of life will be missed by everyone who loved her.
Donations in Angie’s memory can be made to United Way South Sarasota County’s Disaster Recovery and Relief Fund.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10-12 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. A prayer service will follow at 12 p.m. Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
