Willie or Neal (depending on how you knew him) was born in Anderson, SC to Fred Willie Johnson and Emma Lene Johnson on July 7, 1948. Willie graduated from Old Westside High School in Anderson, SC. He entered the military service with the United States Navy in 1971 where he went on to serve 8 years and continued his service as a civilian government employee for more than 35 years until his retirement in 2019.
Willie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Papa. He had a large personality with a heart even bigger, which extended to the people he met and the personnel that he served with and assisted in his civil service. Willie loved racing and building cars. He had a touch with keeping a clean car that he became known for around the community he lived and worked.
Willie is preceded in death by his wife Janice; his father, Fred; mother, Emma Lene; brothers, Bernard and Emmitte.
Willie is survived by his children, John, Stacey (Susan), Terry (Janee) and Gwen; Sisters, Phyillis Johnson, Patricia Johnson, and Tracie Johnson; grandchildren, Nicole, Brandon, Alexis, Kiah, Khristian, Michael, and Matthew (Q); great grandchildren, Julius (Mikelab), Aaliyah, Kayria, Lorenzo, Kawhi, and Kariana.
On the wishes of Willie there will not be a service, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics of Bay County in memory of Willie Johnson. Please mail donations to 1915 Don Wickham Road, Claremont, FL 34711 and designate "Bay County, FL" in the memo section.
