Victoria “Vicki” Hanks Staples, age 71, of Mary Esther, FL passed away on September 2, 2022. Vicki was born on September 20, 1950 in Atmore, AL to George and Estelle Hanks. As a gifted and passionate musician, Vicki touched many lives with her musical talents. She served as a pianist and organist for First Baptist Church, Fort Walton Beach, FL for 43 years and was a member of the church choir. In addition, she taught piano and organ to students of all ages and she played for weddings and funerals. Vicki’s music was a ministry to others. Vicki had many hobbies and enjoyed reading, writing, calligraphy, sewing and cooking. She loved reading scripture and her Christian faith was a great source of comfort.
Vicki had a gregarious personality and enjoyed making people laugh. Her positive attitude and light-hearted nature made her a joy to be around.
A loving and loyal wife, mother and grandmother, Vicki cared deeply for her family and friends.
Vicki is survived by her husband of 50 years, John M. Staples; her daughters, Heather (Jay) Staples Lucey, Ginger Staples; her son, Christopher Staples (Cara Fisher); and her 5 grandchildren, Andrew Rohler, Meredith Lucey, Jeremiah “Jerry” Lucey, Nathanael Lucey and Adelyn DeBakey. Her surviving sibling is Karen (Brett) Shaw.
Funeral services are open to the public on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens in Pensacola, Florida at 11:30 a.m. (1985 W Nine Mile Rd).
